Trust in your dreams

Did you know from a young age we are conditioned to believe that our dreams and goals probably won’t happen for us? We had a fantastic thing called imagination – imagining life anyway we wanted it to be.  Before reality was beaten into us!  Do you remember being told to be more realistic when discussing your dream life?

“Being realistic is the fastest road to mediocrity.  WHY would you EVER be realistic?” Will Smith

We all have ideas of what we would love to do, be or have, but then things pop up and we produce lots of excuses as to why we can’t do it. We literally talk ourselves out of it. How many times have you said:

  • –  I’m not good enough
  • –  I’m not qualified enough
  • –  I haven’t got the money right now
  • –  Someone else is already doing that
  • –  I haven’t got the time
  • –  Etc, etc, etc…

All of this keeps us small! The truth is we are all able to live a happy, abundant, successful life.

It is there for the taking! BUT you have to have the courage within you to follow your intuition. You have to feel the fear and do it anyway!

Stop playing small, what good has it done you? Stop listening to the voice inside your head which tells you that you’re not capable of a happy and abundant life.

Today, make a decision that you are going to live your best life. At the end of the day, you only have two choices – keep playing small, listening to the voice in your head and believing that your dream life is destined to stay in your dreams, OR, actively live your best life, pursue the ideas that make you feel alive and create great happiness and success in your life.

You can recondition your brain for success and empower yourself to thrive.

Instead of self-sabotaging (I wrote another blog on this…) and blaming your school, parents, social situation, friends, commitments, etc, you have the power to take control and make a change.

I did it!

I got to the same age that I was when my mom died and I realised that she never had the chance to live out her fullest dreams. As sad as this made me, it also motivated a change in me.

I started listening to my heart and intuition and the voice inside of me that said ‘you have this idea, now you need to run with it’. I made the decision that keeping my dream life in my dreams wasn’t going to happen to me.

I was scared, in fact I was petrified. I had no idea how to make this happen or specifically what I was going to do. But I decided that if it failed, it failed and at least I had tried. I would always be able to look back on my life and know that I had followed my heart.

When you decide to take an action towards a goal, opportunities seem to appear from everywhere. You don’t need to know ‘how’, you just need to know what the first step is, and then take it.

Stop making excuses. You only have to know what the next step is, you don’t need to plan the whole staircase. Opportunities will unfold, you’ll meet new people and learn along the way.

And I am not saying there won’t be challenges along the way – there will be and you’ll need to fight against that inner self sabotaging voice. Those thoughts are our brains way, attempting to keep us safe; but we don’t need safety in this journey, we need growth.

When I decided to follow my heart, things changed.

I used to have a well-paid, senior corporate role. But I was unhappy. I always aimed to please others and suffered overwhelming imposter syndrome. I knew I had something more inside of me. I knew my calling was to transform other people’s lives. That voice inside of me which kept me in my corporate role was trying to keep me safe. And it would have been so much simpler to stay there. But in reality, I was failing…failing myself, my family, my friends and my dreams by not pursuing the role I felt I was destined to do.

I have big dreams and I know you have too. Grab them.

Now is the time. Believe in yourself, believe you can make it a success – because you can! What is the point in saying you can’t?

If you think, ‘this is all great, but I don’t know how’…let go of the how. You don’t need it. All you need to know is one step at a time. One small accomplishment at a time and the rest will be history.

If you don’t decide to live your best life, then you are choosing to not live your best life. You are choosing to leave your dream life in your dreams. Fully commit to your dream life with joy, passion, determination and trust. We have to proactively make that decision for ourselves.

Try it and watch how your life changes.
